Lately I’ve been yakking about our energy to achieve what might seem impossible. So what I’m going to say about feeling “stuck” may surprise you.
About
This site is dedicated to the remarkable change agents we’ve been privileged to serve — hundreds of them, in all walks of life and every corner of the planet. People like …
- Nancy, bringing together unlikely allies to shape a future of environmental health and economic prosperity for her community.
- Martha, using her board service and philanthropy to bring new life to the cause that matters most to her.
- Rufus, reinventing his newspaper business to defy “the social, political and economic malaise that infects our country.”
- Rosemary, building hope and peace by spotlighting the achievements of “ordinary” people in communities all over the world.
- Jane, standing up for what she believes in by raising money so women have full access to reproductive health care.
- Dan, going beyond conventional, easy answers to creatively reimagine state government.
- Sahadev, putting everything on the line to promote democracy and civil society in Nepal.
If they sound like your kind of folks, take a look around and see how to …
- Start with what’s working (instead of what’s wrong), so you can …
- Dream big (questioning all assumptions and limits) and …
- Act boldly — to inspire (and surprise!) the people around you.
Here are some places to start, so you can choose what interests you most:
- Energize your organization
- Raise money for your cause
- Renew civic life
- Bring meaning into your business
- Start something new
And here’s the secret: It’s all about you. You see, the key to making a difference for others is to keep alive your distinctive personal passion. We’re even going to encourage you to get all feisty about this, no matter what other people may expect of you! That’s what makes the difference between living life small, hemmed in by limits and lack … and making your greatest contribution to the world.

Who’s behind this?
Jim Lord works with folks all over the world, to expand the way they influence, inspire and even ignite people to make a difference at a whole new level.
Jim got his start some 40 years ago as a consultant on capital campaigns. His first book, The Raising of Money, a classic in the field, has just been released in a new edition.
These days, Jim mostly works with civic leaders, business leaders, and donors — those who seek to give of themselves (both money and talent) to realize dreams that once seemed beyond reach.
Pam McAllister devoted more than 20 years to environmental causes, including a decade as communications staff with The Nature Conservancy. (So she does know how to get people moving by telling them the sky is falling. She just doesn’t think it works any more.)
Today Pam teaches people in progressive social causes powerful new ways to inspire people (instead of begging or guilt-tripping them) … so they want to take action.
